Blog Entry #7: Look for a piece of national or international news and write a comment on it.

    Forbes magazine published an article titled: "Multilingual Speakers Wanted: Job Demand Surges For The Next 5 Years". I found this new very interesting, as language students it gives us insight into the importance of our profession, whether as teachers or translators.

   Rachel Wells mentions several advantages of being multilingual:

- Career benefits of learning more than one language

- International experiences

- Competitive advantage

- Job security and career progression

   From my personal perspective, speaking a second language definitely opens doors in multinational companies, with quite competitive salaries and compensation packages. It even makes a person valuable in the labor market. I have seen several cases in which a candidate may even have a specialization, but they do not have a second language, and they are not considered for further recruitment.

   All of this helps us understand how, in the workplace, candidates with language skills and even so-called soft skills are key to positions in senior management and internationally positions that we as professionals should aspire to achieve in our careers.

 Hello everyone, let me introduce myself, Sergio Fonseca. I am an English student at the UIA, also I am a chemistry graduate, I studied it many years ago.  Now I want to combine both studies and become a scientific translator. I currently work in regulatory affairs and because of my job I have contact with the English language and I have to do several translations which is very useful for me to practice. I once heard a phrase that struck me: "one language, one life" and I think it is totally true, since learning English is not just about words, it is actually about immersing yourself in different cultures and ways of seeing the world.

Blog Entry #2: -Write a descriptive paragraph about your Writing Habits

   Writing is an art, I say this because one must express ideas, words, phrases that are coherent and can be correctly interpreted.    Whether you write an email to coworkers, to your boss or to a regulatory entity or ministry, you must be very precise in your ideas, what you want to explain and of course the person or people who will be reading the messages.    When we are writing our ideas, I consider it important to follow the following steps: know who we are sending the message to, have an order explaining the ideas, what we require and finally the expected result.    Another important factor is the block that we can feel when writing. Blog Entry #8: Read the given story and talk about the benefits and challenges writers face every day.

     According to what you express Mike Bunn: “The goal as you read like a writer is to locate what you believe are the most important writerly choices represented in the text—choices as large as the overall structure or as small as a single word used only once—to consider the effect of those choices on potential readers (including yourself)”. That is to say, the fact of choosing a word and understanding why it is within that text can change the perspective of my reading.    I think one of the toughest challenges is not just reading, it's perceiving, feeling, and being aware of what the writing is telling us. For example, my Spanish teacher at school used to say that there could be a text that tells us: "and the sun rose over the beautiful hills like a hope for a new day," and all we understood was, it's dawning.    This should be something that writers must face at every moment of their work, attracting an audience that with all the social network...
